That’s exciting Jamie, makeup school sounds so fun! I also loved Prescriptives. My first real makeup came from Prescriptives when I was a teenager and I think some of the makeup brushes lasted well into my 30s. My mom swore by the “color printing” and getting just the right shade for her powder, she also wore Calyx and I can still remember the scent.

Yes! Color printing. It's how I learned to find the best foundation shade. It worked! Calyx was (is) a classic. It's a shame they folded PX into Clinique and then let it die. But we have so many more options now than in the 90s.

I can't wait to hear all about your journey. I LOVED Prescriptives makeup and used it all the time. I made an appointment at their counter the day of my wedding. They did an excellent job with my wedding makeup, including a dash to the Dermanblend counter to obtain heavy duty concealer for an out of control blemish.

What department store was your Prescriptives counter in? I love that you went to them for your wedding makeup. The products were GOOD. Especially considering how many fewer choices we had in the 90s. I learned everything I know about makeup and skincare from them.

It was a department store that changed ownership a few times, but I think the name back then was Proffitt's. Everyone was so sweet to me on my wedding day. Prescriptives had the most beautiful lipstick shades and their foundation was excellent too.

I miss department store beauty. Walking into a Sephora or Ulta makes my head spin, and not in a good way.

I learned everything about makeup in department stores!! They were usually the best in helping you. The help these days is not the same 😕

It's NOT the same. And it's a real loss.

I cannot wait to read all about your makeup journey! (P.S. Sounds like a great plot for a book?!?!)

Thanks Susie! I'm loving following YOUR journey. My cousin is also in Japan and apparently you can find amazing K-beauty skincare products there. :)
